about

Charlie Marshall and the Curious Minds are proud to release their new single ‘Curious Minds’. The latest installment in Charlie’s new approach to songwriting – rock and roll with a poetic, scientific bent – and a theme song of sorts for his new band.

‘Curious Minds’ is the first single from the forthcoming album ‘Sublime – songs of science, metaphysics and ecology’. It is a grand, epic meditation on some of the most important qualities that make us human – curiosity, discovery and wonder – mixing personal reflection with the insights of scientists of the past.

The song features The Curious Minds:
Clare Moore – Tympani drums, Tim Deane – Piano, Bryan Colechin – Bass and Troy Rogan – Cello.

The single is produced by two sonic maestros. Recorded and Mastered by Simon Grounds in Melbourne and mixed by Darren Seltmann – formerly of The Body Electric and The Avalanches – in Los Angeles.

lyrics

I’ve been wondering how we got here. Are we all alone?
Calling out from this pale blue dot
Is someone else at home?

I’ve been watching the light that moves so swiftly across the sky
Paints the world so blue and sends it to my eye

Been thinking ‘bout curious minds
Albert Einstein rides on a beam of light
Time and space join as one, so sublime
The wonder it shines

I’ve been dreaming of neutrinos
The minutest things
Rushing through the void
On vibrating strings

Been thinking ‘bout exuberant minds
Michael Faraday sees magical lines
Force electric, magnetic, divine
The wonder it shines
Curious minds
Let the wonder shine

I’ve been thinking ‘bout inspired minds
Hubble’s universe expands all around
Trace it back to primordial time – Bang!
And it shines, let it shine
Curious minds
Let the wonder shine
